Each template lists the energy sources a machine of this type usually has.
Describe your machine
The more specific, the more useful the procedure: say where each disconnect and valve is.
Energy sources
Pre-filled from the template. Check each one on your machine: add the location of the device, change what is different, remove what your model does not have.

Questions
Does every machine need its own written procedure?
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(4) requires documented energy control procedures. A machine can go without one only when all eight conditions of the exception in (c)(4)(i) are met, for example a single energy source that is easy to identify and isolate. Mixers, packaging machines and anything with air, gas or stored energy usually need one.
Is this procedure enough to be compliant?
No document is enough on its own. The procedure is one part of an energy control program, together with training and periodic inspections. And it must match your actual machine: a qualified person has to verify and approve it.
What if my machine is not in the list?
Start from the closest template and edit the energy sources. If you need another machine type, write to us: we add machines people ask for.
Can I edit a procedure after I print it?
Yes. Your procedures stay in your account, linked to your license key. Editing and reprinting do not use another credit.
What about cord-and-plug equipment?
If the machine is unplugged and the plug stays under the exclusive control of the person doing the work, the lockout standard does not apply (1910.147(a)(2)(iii)(A)). The slicer and small-mixer templates explain how to handle it.
Do you store what I type?
Procedures you create with a license are stored so you can edit and reprint them. Free previews are not stored. See the Privacy Policy.
Print the full procedure and its DANGER tags
The preview hides part of the steps. A license unlocks the full procedure, printing, tags and editing.
